Health Benefits of Chia Seeds

Chia Seeds

Did you know that Chia Seeds are a SUPERfood?

Originally grown in Mexico, Chia seeds were highly valued for their medicinal properties and nutritional value and were even used as currency. In fact, Aztec warriors ate Chia seeds to give them a boost of energy and endurance and said that just one spoonful of seeds could sustain them for 24 hours. Pretty amazing, right?! Also, Chia seeds were also known as "runners’ food" because runners and warriors would use them as fuel while running long distances or during battle. They're rich in fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins and minerals.

Chia seeds also contain essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, including sulphur, iron, iodine, magnesium, manganese, niacin and thiamine; and they’re a rich source of antioxidants. You can add Chia to smoothies, baked goods, protein bars or even make a pudding.

In addition, recent research has found that Chia seeds are even better for you than they realized. Chia seeds promote healthy skin, reduce signs of aging, support the heart and digestive system, build stronger bones and muscles, and they’ve even been linked to helping reverse diabetes. As you can see, the Chia seed is nutrient-dense and packs a punch of energy-boosting power!
